Wednesday, October 29th, 2003Maybe it’s just because I know practically nothing about art history, no… almost certainly it’s because I know absolutely nothing about art history, but (there’s always a but isn’t there?) I just had to do an analysis of a 16th century Japanese woodblock print which felt extremely like I was making the entire thing up on the fly. I think the question was something to the effect of “what was the artist’s position on power and desire in this print?” When I make stuff up about literature at least I have some textual basis for my absurd assertions, things I can quote to support my tenuous points.
