I picked up a new CD today on my walk home from the train by a band that was new to me, Epica, called “the Phantom Agony.” I’d highly recommend it to those of you (Ethan and Sarra) who are fans of Nightwish. Very much the same feel: a female vocalist fronting a gothish metal band. It does have the occasional male vocal, which is unfortunate in this case, but in general it is quite nice. I think there is a whole genre of these bands with opera-like singers backed up by a chorus and quasi-orchestra in addition to the traditional metal elements (not that I know a whole lot about those).
